Too Hot to roam around out there for you? Well, glue yourself to the couch, kick your feet up, and flip on the TV! And Binge your Summertime Blues away! We would like to recommend a few shows for you to try out. The CW has a pretty super line-up, with the Arrow, the Flash, the Legends of Tomorrow & Supergirl! These are some great shows to escape with. They also intertwine somewhere along the way. Fun Stuff. Hey, you're in luck...we have the first seasons of the Arrow & the Flash in custom-made boxes to start you off right! When you are done watching these two shows, you may also want to add the badges to your collection! These are metal full size badges sculpted after the actual props from the hit shows! Perhaps you'll be more into the crazy adult swim antics of Rick & Morty. With the third season delayed, now is the perfect time to catch up on the two seasons of this twisted sci-fi show! Follow the adventures of scientist/inventor Rick Sanchez & sidekick Morty Smith as they travel & traverse different dimensions & realities! With the episodes playing & streaming on adult swim & playing on HULU as well! Wubbalubbadubdub! Once again you can always hit the shop to pick-up the LootCrate exclusive T-Shirt featuring the blueprints for Rick's Portal Gun! Don't forget that in August 2017, Netflix will be debuting the Defenders! The culmination of the MARVEL shows that play on that streaming service. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, & Iron Fist are all definitely worth checking out before the BIG team up! I feel the Defenders series is a fun idea that brings the old school comic book feel to the small screen. Remember reading the ol' Marvel Team-Up series to see how the different heroes interacted with each other. Sometimes they quarreled & battled first. Sometimes they already knew each other from prior interaction. But most of the time they ended up working together to battle a bigger threat. I'm hoping that the show has that vibe. Looking for more ideas...well our dog Bella would like to recommend Hawaii Five-0 & Downward Dog for your viewing pleasure. Hawaii Five-0 is running on CBS, with old seasons streaming on Netflix & Amazon (for purchase). Five-0 follows the action & adventures of McGarrett, Danny (aka: Danno), and his elite police squad as they fight various crimes in beautiful Hawaii. Downward Dog is airing on ABC this summer, with reruns showing on Hulu, iTunes, Amazon (for purchase). It follows the life of Martin (the dog) & his owner Nan. Martin narrates the day-to-day tales as they traverse the ups & downs of their co-existence. We hope you stay cool my friends, enjoy your binge time to beat those Summertime Blues or Reds...
Thanks for stopping by this week! See You Soon! Escaped the summer heat by hitting the movie theater this week! With the nephews in town for a bit, we went to see CARS 3! It was a fun addition to the series, I won't post any spoilers here, just a quick overview. Lightning McQueen is dealing with the feeling of becoming obsolete in his career. The new crew of younger racers are moving into the sport, pushing out the old. Will he just hide away in his musty garage or will he find the courage to face his demons & roll back onto the track? One of the messages of this film is not to be afraid of embracing who you are, even if it means change. The nephews enjoyed the film, though after the film, it did spark the debate of whether the CARS film franchise will continue on to PART 5 or PART 8. They also felt it had good music, fun racing scenes, but maybe some of the "sad" (emotional) scenes were too early in the film. So to wrap it up, it definitely follows the Disney/Pixar formula. And fans of the CARS series won't be disappointed. CARS 3 features the voices of Owen Wilson, Cristela Alonzo, Chris Cooper, Nathan Fillion, Armie Hammer, Larry the Cable Guy, Paul Newman & many more! Well thanks for stopping by! And we are sure you'll enjoy the film! And it whether or not it was intentional, think of ROCKY 3 when you go watch it... Also, don't forget to hit the Disneyana Spot in the shop for some fun merch & memorabilia this week as well!
The middle of June is upon us, fun films in the theater filled with BIG STARS & BIGGER EXPLOSIONS! This time of year always brings wonderful memories of Summer Movies Past...Flashback to 1989, the highly anticipated Batman hit the screens of the local cineplex! It was a crazy time, people were waiting with baited breath to see just what Tim Burton, Michael Keaton & Jack Nicholson could pull off. Like butter on top of this popcorn film, it featured a score by Danny Elfman & soundtrack by Prince! In a day 'n age of very little internet, the anticipation for this film was fed by newspapers, trade magazines, and good old word of mouth! It turned into a worldwide hit & blew up the box office, it also became a marketing giant! There were plenty of toys, comics, video games, & knick-knacks released that Summer & following year. Hit the shop to see some of the cool Batman Gear, including some of the action figures inspired by the film. The 1989 incarnation of Batman brought back the dark to the Dark Knight on the screen. Even after the Dark Knight Returns & the Killing Joke books, Batman still had a bit of the shadow of the 60's camp version of the character! This film spoke out to the BATFANS in a whole new way! Speaking of the 1966's Batman, Adam West has recently passed away, leaving a void in the fandom realm. In the 70s, he was THE BATMAN that kept us tuning into the same BAT CHANNEL to watch his antics in the reruns. The colorful, comical, corny & campy version of the caped crusader became an icon for many generations. He also popped up in several shows & did voice work for several animated pieces. One being the voice of the Gray Ghost in the Batman : Animated Series, as well as playing Mayor Adam West on the Family Guy series. He truly was a king in the Pop Culture Realm. He will truly be missed. Rest in Peace.

TWENTY FILMS to be exact! We took a brand new Bellagio-Italia Binder and stocked it up for you with a mélange of movies for your viewing pleasure. Too many to list here, so you may wanna hit the shop for the list. It is the perfect gift for that kid who's off to college and you don't want them raiding your stash. Maybe, grab a portable player and carry it on your next road trip to pass away the backseat boredom. If that is intriguing to you, check out these other offerings...There is the FRINGE : Season One Bluray Set & the INCEPTION metal Briefcase UK edition. Two mind twisting tales to entertain you and keep you on your toes. The FRINGE series contains 20 episodes plus hours of extra material in a neat box set with a lenticular cover! The INCEPTION case was designed to look like a piece of equipment from the film, & contains the U.K. edition of the Bluray, postcard size photos, and a top totem! Hit the shop to see more about these two items! Finally, what is a road trip without maps? Paper maps to be exact. Before the invention of GPS systems and electronic devices with map apps, there were paper maps sold in nearly every gas station, truck stop, & convenience store! We have a small bundle of these paper relics for your cartography collection. This pack of eight maps from California, Nevada, & New Mexico are in great shape and are beautifully illustrated pieces. It truly is a dying art form in this day and age...they may not lead you to pirate's gold, but these are definitely items to be treasured. Well, we hope you all get to go somewhere exciting this summer! If not, just put on a movie, to be transported away for a couple of hours & have yourself a blockbuster of a time! See you next time, stay cool! |
